The China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Quarterly Report for the third quarter of 2014, written by the China-ASEAN Business Council, was recently released in Beijing. The "Report" shows that since the construction of the upgraded version of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area was launched at the end of August, the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has ushered in new vitality, creating huge business opportunities for the cooperation and development of enterprises, and the bilateral trade and investment have continued to grow. According to the analysis of the "Report", in the third quarter of this year and from January to September, most of the 10 ASEAN countries' economic growth rates are expected to be lowered, but the economic development in the free trade zone remains healthy and positive. In the first three quarters of this year, trade and investment between China and ASEAN countries continued to grow. Analysis data shows that from January to September this year, China-ASEAN trade volume was 346.597 billion US dollars, accounting for 11% of China's total foreign trade, an increase of 7.5% year-on-year; the third quarter increased by 9% compared with the second quarter.
